This is really amazing - be patient and keep watching, about halfway through the show has models wearing giant Blythe-like heads as they strut the catwalk.  The effect is both uber-cool and rather eerie.

Sorry to spam you but I monkeyed with the photos a bit more and decided I really liked this close up version of another pic.  It's similar to the icon photo but more head on.  I'm seeing a hint of the 20s actress Alla Nazimova in her here.  Maybe this is a better photo showing the likeness.  Ooo, or something like this one of Isabella Rosillini made up to be Nazimova!  Makes me want another Anais with a 20s face up...must resist!     o_O

I just couldn't resist taking some pics of Anais in the new SODA gown tonight, it was definitely an "I Want Candy" sort of photo shoot!  The fan (and stocking, shift and panniers) came with the gown.  The sweeties are erasers, and the little doggie I got from a vendor on ebay.  The wig was one of the ones Court and Castle was selling for a while.  I  teased, trimmed and styled it with tiny paper roses from Michaels.

I'm very tardy in posting I'm afraid but I had a lovely little dolly get together with ashbet.  She bought my Volks Sara and we'd wanted to get together for a while so I went over to her house to play dolls just before I left for LA.  It was great to finally meet and have a chance to hang out.  I loved seeing all her girls (PLUM!!) I didn't get the greatest shots but I got a few.

Sara's spoken for but I still have "The Gentleman with the Thistledown Hair"  aka my WS Volks f-17 up for sale.  He has a wonderful impish face-up by Ravendolls on a White Cat Chris body that is great perfect match.  I got both head and body on the marketplace about a year ago, I'm the second owner. He's been stored in a box when he wasn't being played with. He will come with the blue eyes in the first pic and the spiky white wig shown in both pics, as well as a white bathrobe and a volks box.  $800 + shipping, paypal or local check only.

It's a little early but I thought these pics of Anais channeling Kiera Knightly in The Duchess (in her the SODA Duchess Fox outfit) seemed festive, especially with the little champagne glass!  ;)  She's wearing a dollheart wig and the champagne glass is from World Market (Cost Plus to the CA crowd) It was an xmas ornaments and had a little loop of glass with a string to hang it, but if you're careful you can break it off and use it for dolls!

Ironically I was toodleing around on the web because I was thinking of selling more dolls when I cam across this beauty. Anyone looking for a Queen Margot or Evil Queen from the Brothers Grimm? I think she's the one. Wow.

So speaking of selling dolls, I've been in a real "clear the decks" mode lately. I've got far too much stuff and that includes the dolls. Currently on the DoA marketplace I've got a BW volks f17 boy with face up by Ravendolls and a non-jointed BW sd10 girl body for sale, and in all likelyhood I'll be adding to that in the future. If you have any interest in either of those PM me and I'll get you the details.

So in what I can only assume is an all-too-common doll round robin I'm selling one doll to buy another.  I've been hunting for a Volks f31 boy with HUMAN ears for a long time.  They won't sell him with human ears in the LA store (I checked) which meant I'd have to hire someone to buy him for me in Japan or get him off the marketplace.  He comes up on the marketplace semi-regularly but always with the elf ears.  Then, just a little while ago milkeye put her f31 boy up for sale and I bought him!  I ended up selling my Liz to get him.  I've felt for a while like I've got too many dolls and that I wanted to have smaller group I was more attached to.  And for some reason, despite how lovely she is, I just wasn't bonding to Liz.  I've only recently figured out that there is a difference between dolls I think are wonderful and dolls I personally want to have.  Liz and the f16/Masha/Sasha are dolls I think are very beautiful but are not ones I want to own, more just ones I love to look at, if that makes sense.  Anyway, the good news is I finally have my dream boy on the way!  I see him as a sort of male version of Snow White looks-wise: pale skin and dark hair.  Not sure on the eyes yet.  And he's going to need a face up...

In other dolls news I ordered the two new SODA Duchess costumes, I couldn't help myself!  One of these days I've got to get my act together to take some photos of the Fox costume. I was thinking of doing it this morning in fact, it's so lovely out but then the wind kicked up.   Anyway the costume is really lovely, as good or better than I could do myself (all that tiny braid!).  The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is the hat, which I may remake, but really it was well worth it. 

I've got some more doll hats under construction but I'm waiting on an order of millinery wire to arrive before I can finish them.  But keep your eyes on this space for more hats and some more props...

I'd gotten some little bottles at Michaels a while back I'd wanted to turn into doll props.  I looked on the web for some labels, put a little water with food coloring inside and voila!  I may have to go back and get some more, I've gotta have rum for the pirates!  And maybe some odd chemicals/poisons for the steampunky/Halloween crowd.



I also thought it would be cool to have old looking letters or newspapers for them.  So I made these.

Take a look, they've got a repro of Georgian's wedding gown from The Duchess!  And a lovely pink robe francaise.  And they have a gorgeous MEN"S 18th C suit as well!

I can't find the dolly repro I did of the Marie Antoinette Blue with red belt anywhere!  (The one in this icon) It seems to have totally disappeared.  :(

I just love the Arcadia outfits!   They look even better in real life than on the website, if that's possible.  They're so well made and expertly tailored.  I especially appreciate such a wonderful boy's costume since I'm just not all that into sewing for boys.  Anyway here are the pics.

I probably should have had some in other positions but it was so hard to get them all standing with arms linked I couldn't bare to move them!  Anais has one of the Bitten beehive-type wigs on which is just perfect to get that up tilting look for the bonnet, I think they could work for 18th C too if worn with a hat.  Carol's waring the burgundy top hat I made that I've decided to keep.  Now I'm going to have to make a satin one for the boy...And I think I'm going to have to go back and get one of Arcadia's black military-looking outfits, they look a bit similar to a Hussar's uniform, and lord knows I don't want to deal with all that braid myself!  Plus it would be perfect for a PotO Raoul Masquerade costume!  :D

I got my arcadia package - woo hoo!  I've opened it to make sure all the pieces are there but will probably have to wait til the boys are in school on Monday before I can get any pics.   I love, love, love it!    Squeee!

I ordered the "Magician" outfit since I'm not as into making costumes for boys.  It's just perfect for a Phantom of the Opera costume so now I need to decide which Christine costume to make.  The "masquerade" one is one of my favorites but I also really love "Think of Me"   Of course Carol HAS to be Christine.  I think Liz, given her arch look is Carlotta and probably Emma oor Anais should be Meg.  Thinking about what I've got in the stash I could actually do either.  I've got a bunch of pink and white silk organza from the last sale fabric.com had on it.  In fact once I've drafted the borice for one I'm good to go cuz their basically the same bodice and only a slightly different skirt.  God, wouldn't it be cool to do a whole "masquerade" scene with dolls?!    I think I need to watch that movie again...

I just had to pop down to the basement and take a few more pics of Carol in the "crypt"  then I decided it would make a good little photostory.

This ball is so boring, at least I've found a quiet corner.

So here's the vampire gown.  I made everything except the shoes and stockings, whew!  Oh and the wig is a dollheart one.  The costume is silk taffeta, beaded lace, silk fringe and antique lace for the mitts. Btw - I think Carol's going to have to be my Christine for Phantom when I do a gown for that, she's too perfect for the part - all big-eyed innocence and sensuality all mixed together.

I saw this as a Victorian costume for the willing victim.  She's seen the vampire once, maybe even been kissed or bitten by him (could that be why is she wearing that choker?  To hide bite marks?)  and she's longing to see him again...

My BJD Project Runway Vampire Challenge project is almost done and I gotta say  -- it ROCKS!  I was inspired by a little bit of Ms. Lovett and a lot of Claudia from Interview.  AND my Volks Carol arrived and she's just perfect as my Victorian Fangbanger, just looking for a little bite of love...I used a scrap of burgundy silk taffeta and have literally about 7 inches square left of it there was so little.  I also used some of the beaded lace I bought to make my Marie Antoinette Black Masquerade repro (human-sized).  I had a really weird piece left - two ends that would be perfect for sleeves and a middle that was all wonky.  So I cut up the funky middle piece and used it since I figure it's useless for anything other than dolls. 

I'm afraid I love the new burgundy hat too much to part with it.  I may make another one or two later on, but this one is mine!
